American swimmer Mariah Denigan was born on May 3, 2003. She is the daughter of Josh and Candace Denigan, and is an expert in open water and freestyle competitions. Denigan competed in the 10 km open water event at the 2022 FINA World Swimming Championships in Budapest, Hungary, ranking 15th overall. She also ranked seventh in the USA Mixed Team Relay.

In the women's 800-meter freestyle competition, Deniagn took home the silver medal from the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru. She also participated in the 1500 and 400-meter freestyle competitions. She placed fifth in the 400-meter individual medley women's competition.

Freshman (2021-22)

In her freshman season at Indiana University, Mariah Denigan’s standout performances included a 16th-place finish in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a time of 16:06.55, along with a commendable 22nd place in the 500-yard freestyle clocking in at 4:42.58. She secured 34th place in the 400-yard individual medley at NCAA Championships.

At the Big Ten Championships, Denigan secured a spot in the final for the 500-yard freestyle, and finished eighth with a time of 4:45.70 . She also displayed her skills in the 400-yard individual medley, clinching another eighth-place finish at the conference meet.

Sophomore (2022-23)

In her Sophomore year at Indiana University, at the NCAA Championships, Mariah Denigan clinched her first-career podium finish earning a remarkable seventh place in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a time of 15:52.18. She set a personal best with the 1,000-yard freestyle split of 9:35.50 during the 1,650 race. Additionally, Denigan secured 23rd place in the fiercely competitive 500-yard freestyle event.

At the Big Ten Championships, Denigan added to her accolades by claiming the bronze medal in the 1,650-yard freestyle, posting a time of 15:57.82. She secured a fourth-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle and a commendable fifth place in the 400-yard individual medley at Big Tens.

Denigan secured victories in both the 500 and 1,000-yard freestyle events in all three dual meets contested. At the Ohio State Invitational, She finished second in the 1,650-yard freestyle (16:08.72 and third in the 500-yard freestyle (4:41.89). She also finished eight in 400 IM (4:14.75) and 16th in 200 back (1:57.42) at midseason.

Denigan's dedication to academics earned him recognition as a CSCAA Scholar All-America, Big Ten Distinguished Scholar, and Academic All-Big Ten.

Denigan participated for Team USA and secured sixth in the 10K race (1:57.31.10). She also made an 18th-place finish in the 5K (1:01.18.30).

Mariah Denigan attended Barren Academy of Virtual Expanded Learning (BAVEL) with a GPA of 4.0 and as a Scholastic All-American Honor. Denigan was also a Member of the Gifted and Talented Program. Along with breaking Kentucky state records in the 100-yard and 200-yard backstroke, 200-yard and 400-yard IM, 200-yard, 400-yard, 500-yard, 1500-yard, and 1650-yard freestyle events,

Denigan sets a new record. She trains with Lakeside Swim Club. She secured a silver medal at the 2018 Junior Pan Pacific and a bronze medal at the 2018 Junior World Open Water Championship. She was a member of the Team USA Open Water National for the World Cup Series. She also won a silver medal at the 2019 Pan American Games and was a member of the 2018-19 Team USA National and 2018-21 Team USA Junior National.
