After three days of amazing swimming, the action at the Pro Swim Series was at its last day yesterday. On the agenda for the day was the men's and women's 800m freestyle timed finals, the 100m backstroke, the 200m breaststroke, the 200m individual medley and the 50m freestyle.

First up in the pool in Knoxville was the women's 800m freestyle timed finals. Here, to absolutely nobody's surprise, Katie Ledecky cruised to an easy win, beating her closest competitor by 12.67 seconds. Paige Madden finished second with a time of 8:27.64, while Jillian Cox took home the bronze when she clocked 8:28.00.

Meanwhile, the men's 800m freestyle posed a bit of a surprise. Bobby Finke, American record holder in the event, only managed to grab third-place as both Felix Aubock and Lucas Henveaux finished ahead of him. For Aubock, this win comes after a packed schedule at the Pro Swim Series that saw him win the 200m and 400m freestyle, while claiming silver in the 1500m freestyle event.

Next in the pool were the eight competitors of the women's 100m backstroke finals. The event kicked off with yesterday's 200m backstroke winner, Claire Curzan, establishing an early lead. However, Katharine Berkoff fought back in the last 50m of the race, eventually touching the finish line 0.05 seconds ahead of Curzan. Rhyan White was the last one to clamber onto the podium.

Meanwhile, the gold-medalist for the 100m backstroke at the Pro Swim Series was none other than Shaine Casas, who won yesterday's 100m butterfly. Barely half a second behind him was World Championships bronze medalist Hunter Armstrong, while Florida's up-and-coming John Marshall set a new personal best to finish third.

The following race was perhaps the most exciting race of the 2024 Pro Swim Series. The women's 100m breaststroke was piped to be a close battle between Kate Douglass and Olympic champion Lilly King, but the former was having none of it.

Douglass quickly broke away from her competitors to touch the wall in 2:19.30, setting a new American record, and putting her fourth on the all time list. Lilly King finished second behind Douglass, while Mona McSharry held off Ella Nelson to take home bronze.

The men's 100m breaststroke saw Lyubomir Epitropov push himself in the last half of the race to overtake Will Licon in front of a cheering home crowd. Epitropov clocked 2:11.59 for his win, while Licon finished with a 2:11.77 for the silver. Five-time World Champion in breaststroke events, Nic Fink, came in third.

Next up at the Pro Swim Series was the women's 200m individual medley. The event saw Canadian Summer McIntosh better her own Pro Swim Series record with a time of 2:07.63. Alex Walsh was on McIntosh's heels the entire race, but was forced to settle for silver, while Kelly Pash took home bronze.

The men's 200m individual medley was an impossibly close race. While Carson Foster started out with a healthy lead, Trenton Julian and Grant House quickly closed in on the World Champion. Eventually, Foster managed to scrape by to the top of the podium, finishing 0.06 seconds ahead of Julian. House was right behind the two, clocking a 1:59.02 for his bronze.

The last race of the 2024 Pro Swim Series was the men's and women's 50m freestyle. Both races went down to the wire, and proved to be the perfect way to close out the event.

Kaisa Wasick took the gold in the women's event, while Abbey Weitzeil and Kate Douglass finished within 0.26 and 0.36 seconds of her to take silver and bronze. Michael Andrew topped the charts in the men's 50m freestyle, Jordan Crooks and Santo Condorelli tied for second.
