The governing body of World Aquatics announced that Singapore will host the World Aquatics Championships, scheduled to take place from July 11 to August 3 in 2025.
A total of six aquatic sports will he held across 24 days with over 2500 athletes likely to compete in the championships. The six aquatic sports are swimming, water polo, diving, artistic swimming, open water swimming, and high diving.
While announcing the hosts, World Aquatics named Singapore Sports Hub and Sentosa as the venues for the highly anticipated competition.
It’s important to note that Singapore has conducted numerous top-level sporting events, including World Cups in five of the six aquatic sports on 13 instances, and also hosted the Junior Swimming Championships in 2015.
Notably, Singapore also hosted the Summer Youth Olympics Inaugural Edition in 2010 when the swimming and diving competitions took place in the campaign.
Fixtures for the World Aquatics Championships will be announced later
While announcing Singapore as the host for the World Aquatics Championships in 2025, World Aquatics President Husain Al-Musallam hailed the Asian continent for grabbing the hosting abilities for the third consecutive year. Earlier, the competitions were held in Fukuoka in 2023 and Doha in 2024.
“Today marks a milestone for the highly anticipated World Aquatics Championships – Singapore 2025,” said World Aquatics President Husain Al-Musallam (via Sportstar).
“With this announcement and following up on two previous World Aquatics Championships in Asia – Fukuoka in 2023 and Doha in 2024 – the continent’s steadfast commitment and exceptional hosting abilities are on full display, ready to welcome the world’s finest aquatic athletes,” he added.
Mark Chay, President of the Singapore Aquatics, has emphasized that the community is eager to host the best athletes worldwide, offering world-class facilities with high-quality events across both venues.
“With Singapore’s proud tradition in aquatic sports, our community is thrilled to host the world’s best athletes in July and early August 2025. Singapore offers world-class facilities, a proven track record of hosting high-quality events, and a passion for aquatic sports,” Mark Chay stated.
The fixtures for the World Aquatics Championships and World Aquatics Masters Championships in Singapore 2025 will be announced later.
