He passed out of high school in 2018 and started competing at Texas A&M University. Here, he competed till 2021 and then transferred to the University of Texas in 2022.

In the 2019 National Championships, Casas won a gold medal in the 100m backstroke, clocking a time of 52.72s and two silvers in the 200m backstroke and the 200m IM, posting a time of 1:55.79 and 1:58.83, respectively. After suffering from COVID-19, he became the all-time third-fastest person to swim the 100-yard backstroke at the 2020 Art Adamson Invitational.
