Australia Women's Hockey Team Bio
The Australia Women's hockey team currently ranks fifth in the International Hockey Federation (FIH) Women’s list.
History
Playing since 1914, the team comes under the tutelage of the Hockey Australia and Oceania Hockey Federation.
The Hockeyroos finished fourth in its first major international tournament in the 1981 FIH Women's Hockey World Cup. Australia’s first major success was the gold medal in the 1988 Seoul Olympic.
Achievements
Australia won the World Cup twice in 1990 and 1994, along with three silver medals in 1990, 2006 and 2014 and a bronze medal in 1983. In its ten World Cup participation, the team could not finish on the podium on just four occasions.
