The Japan Women's hockey team currently ranks 16th in the International Hockey Federation (FIH) Women’s list.
History
The team comes under the tutelage of the Japan Hockey Association and Asian Hockey Federation.
Japan finished sixth in its first major international tournament in the 1978 FIH Women's Hockey World Cup.
Achievements
In its seven world cup appearances before 2018, the Sakura Japan’s best performance was to finish fifth in 2006. It stood seventh in 1981 and moved between the tenth and eleventh position in the other world cups.
