JTG Daugherty Racing
JTG Daugherty Racing started off as a team which fielded cars in the NASCAR Xfinity Series and later on expanded operations to NASCAR Cup Series. The team started racing in NASCAR in 1995. It was formerly known as ST Racing and JTG Racing. JTG Racing will be spending its 29th season in NASCAR, as of the 2024 season. The team was even merged with Wood Brothers Racing from 2006-2008 in the Cup Series.
JTG Daugherty Racing was originally started by Tad Geschickter and Jodi Geschickter. The couple laid the foundation to the team in 1995. They were joined by Brad Daugherty, who is a former NBA player, in 2008 after their merger with Wood Brothers Racing ended. The team won the 2023 Daytona 500. The team claimed their first victory in 2014 with A.J. Allmendinger.

Tad Geschickter, Jodi Geschickter, Gordon Smith and Brad Daugherty are the owners of the JTG Daugherty Racing team. Tad and Jodi Geschickter were the founders of the team. Gordon Smith acquired a minority stake in the team in 2016. The team claimed their first sponsor in Proctor and Gamble, for whom the Geschickters worked for earlier.
Brad Daugherty
Brad Daugherty is a former NBA player and the co-owner of JTG Daugherty Racing. He joined the team in 2008, when they started their first full-time schedule in the Cup Series. Brad Daugherty, nicknamed “Big Train”, is a native of Black Mountain, North Carolina and was born on October 19th, 1965. Daugherty is also an analyst on NBC for NASCAR racing.
Brad Daugherty has 5 NBA All-Star selections, as he averaged 19 points, 9.5 rebounds and 7 assists, during his 9-year career with the Cleveland Cavaliers. He is also a part of the North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame and member of ACC 50th Anniversary men’s basketball team. He played for the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA from 1986 to 1995. Brad Daugherty donned the #43 jersey, which was retired in his honor.

Mike Kelley is the Crew Chief of the sole car run by JTG Daugherty Racing in the Cup Series. He leads the no.47 car in the 2024 Cup Series season. Michael Kelley is a native of Mooresville, North Carolina in the United States. He has been working with JTG Daugherty Racing since 2020. He was the Head of Aero in the team until 2022, when he switched roles as the Crew Chief of the team.
