Malaysia Hockey Bio
The Malaysia National Field Hockey Team is governed by the Malaysian Hockey Confederation. Nicknamed “The Speedy Tigers”, the team is made up of the best field hockey players in Malaysia. The team is ranked 12th in the world, and 2nd in Asia as of 10 December 2017, by the International Hockey Federation.
In the 1975 Hockey World Cup, the team finished fourth, their best of the event while in the 2014 edition, they finished twelfth. They hadn’t qualified for the last four editions of the Summer Olympics, and their best performance was an eighth place finish in the 1972 Games. They were the runners up in the 2017 Hockey Asia Cup, losing to India 2-1.
