Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing competes in the IndyCar and WeatherTech SportsCar Championship series. They are known for winning the Indy 500 race twice in their IndyCar history. RLL Racing won their first Indy 500 race in 2004 and their second Indy 500 race in 2020. Rahal Letterman Lanigan racing team was established in 1991 as Hogan Racing. In 1996, the team was renamed Team Rahal. They also have an IMSA program which they run with factory partner BMW under the name BMW Team RLL. The team became a topic of discussion in 2024 after the FBI investigated them. The team started operation in IndyCar in 2004 after competing in the CART championship from 1991 to 2003.

Robert Woodward Rahal aka Bobby Rahal is the co-owner of RLL Racing Team and a former racing driver. He competed in the CART series from 1982 to 1998. Rahal raced for 17 years in the series, collecting 24 victories and three CART championships. He also participated in endurance racing winning the 24 Hours of Daytona and the 12 Hours of Sebring races. Rahal served in a managerial position in the Jaguar Formula 1 team and was the interim president of CART after retiring from racing.
David Michael Letterman is the second co-owner of the team RLL Racing. He is an American television host, comedian, writer, and producer. Letterman hosted Late Night with David Letterman on NBC from 1982 to 2015, ending it in 2015 with Late Show with David Letterman on CBS. He hosted a total of 6080 episodes during his time. He is America’s longest-serving late-night talk show host. He has been hosting the Netflix show My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman since 2018.
Michael Lanigan is the other co-owner of the RLL Racing team. He is an entrepreneur and founded a division of his father’s company Mi-Jack Construction Equipment, in Indianapolis in 1973. Lanigan joined the team as a co-owner in 2010.
