RFK Racing History

Roush Fenway Keselowski Racing was founded by Jack Roush, a former employee of Ford and the pioneer behind Roush Performance. Roush had a history as a racing driver. He competed and won in different racing series including drag racing and sports cars. Roush has previously competed in the NHRA, SCCA Trans-Am Series, IMSA GT Championship, and the 24 Hours of Daytona. His racing team was a part of an automotive engineering and road-racing business based in Livonia, Michigan.

RFK Racing’s NASCAR program came into existence in 1988. Their program involves racing, engine building, and collaborating with other teams using Ford engines. RFK Racing manages to share effective information between the teams through this method. They partnered with Doug Yates in 2004 to form Roush-Yates Racing. Roush-Yates is the primary engine supplier for Ford teams. They are the engine suppliers for Wood Brothers Racing, Team Penske, Rick Ware Racing, Stewart Haas Racing, and Front Row Motorsports.

Roush Racing sold off 50 percent of their stakes to sports investor and Fenway Sports Group owner, John W. Henry in 2007. In 2022, Brad Keselowski, a co-owner of the team, named it Roush Fenway Keselowski Racing. The team fielded almost five carts in 1998-2000 and 2003-2009. They were ordered to shrink operation from the 2009 season. Since the 2016 season, they have been operating only two cars in the Cup Series.
