Spire Motorsports History
After the purchase of a charter from Furniture Row Racing, Spire Motorsports was founded in December 2018 by Spire Sports + Entertainment. The team began its NASCAR journey with the No.77 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1. The team is run by former president of Furniture Row Racing, Joe Garone. Initially, Spire Motorsports operated in collaboration with Premium Motorsports sharing a facility, before moving to Rick Ware Racing Shop in 2020. This alliance allowed Spire Motorsports to make a mark in the NASCAR Cup Series.
Later in August 2020, Spire Motorsports acquired the assets of Leavine Family Racing, enabling them to have a two-car operation for the 2021 season. The team relocated its headquarters to Concord, North Carolina, which was made possible by taking over the former AK Racing shop. In 2023, the team purchased the charter from Live Fast Motorsports for $40 million and fielded a third car in 2024. They also acquired the assets of Kyle Busch Motorsports and made their presence known in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.
