2023 Australian Open - Day 1
Sebastian Baez will be in action in Lyon on Wednesday.

The fourth day of main draw action at the Lyon Open on Wednesday, May 24, will feature four second-round matches. Three seeds - one of whom is a wildcard - one qualifier and another wildcard will be in action at the ATP 250 claycourt event.

On Tuesday, the likes of Francisco Cerundolo, Jack Draper and Pablo Llamas Ruiz emerged victorious, beating Juan Pablo Varillas, fifth seed Miomir Kecmanovic and Max Purcell, respectively.

So, without further ado, here's a look at how the following three matches at Lyon on Wednesday could pan out.

#1 Sebastian Baez vs Pedro Cachin

Sixth seed Sebastian Baez will take on his unseeded compatriot Pedro Cachin in an all-Argentinian matchup at Lyon for a place in the quarter-finals.

In an ill-tempered opening-round clash, World No. 44 Baez defeated Marton Fucsovics in straight sets. As a result, he improved his win-loss record to 14-13 on the season.

The 63rd-ranked Cachin got his Lyon campaign up and running by beating Gael Monfils, who has now suffered his fourth defeat in as many matches in 2023. Cachin is now 8-14 this season.

Baez won his lone meeting with Cachin in the Estoril second round this year and should repeat the trick again.

Pick: Baez in three sets

#2 Mikael Ymer vs Arthur Fils

Mikael Ymer takes on French wildcard Arthur Fils as he seeks a place in the last eight in Lyon.

The 112th-ranked Ymer opened his campaign at the claycourt event by downing Frenchman Richard Gasquet in straight sets.

He's now 7-9 on the season, having not reached a tour-level quarter-final since Marseille this year. Ymer, though, has done well on the Challenger Tour, coming off a quarter-final run at Bordeaux last week.

Meanwhile, World No. 112 Fils improved to an impressive 7-3 in 2023 by beating Zhizhen Zhang in his opener. He has already reached consecutive semi-finals in Montpellier and Marseille and will look to continue his good run.

This is a first-time matchup, but Fils should take this one.

Pick: Fils in three sets

#3 Felix Auger-Aliassime (Lyon top seed) vs Pablo Llamas Ruiz

Top seed and wildcard Felix Auger-Aliassime will open his campaign after a first-round bye against Spanish qualifier Pablo Llamas Ruiz.

World No. 10 Auger-Aliassime is 12-9 on the season and is coming off opening-round exits in Madrid and Rome. In fact, he's riding a three-match losing streak since reaching the third round in Miami.

Meanwhile, the 240th-ranked Llamas Ruiz beat Max Purcell on his ATP Tour debut in his opener. The Spaniard hasn't met Auger-Aliassime before, but the experienced Canadian should win this one.

Pick: Auger-Aliassime in straight sets
