Grigor Dimitrov vs Jiri Lehecka preview
Defending champion Grigor Dimitrov will face Jiri Lehecka in the semifinals of the Brisbane International 2025 on January 4.
Dimitrov kicked off his title defense with a 7-6 (5), 6-3 win over Yannick Hanfmann. He beat Aleksandar Vukic 6-2, 7-6 (5) to set up a quarterfinal showdown against eighth seed Jordan Thompson.
Dimitrov cruised through the first set, and dropped only one game en route to claiming it. He led 2-1 in the second set when Thompson was forced to call it quits due to an injury, thus sending him into the semifinals.
Lehecka, meanwhile, toppled third seed Holger Rune in straight sets in his opener here. He then survived a stern test from Yoshihito Nishioka to defeat him 6-2, 6-7 (5), 6-4. He was up against Nicolas Jarry in the quarterfinals. Both sets played out the same way, with a single break of serve in the Czech youngster's favor helping him secure a 6-4, 6-4 win.

Grigor Dimitrov vs Jiri Lehecka prediction
Lehecka fired 10 aces and won 79 percent of his first-serve points en route to a clinical win over Jarry in the quarterfinals. He also saved all five break points that he faced. Dimitrov, meanwhile, had it easy as his opponent's physical state was compromised, and eventually threw in the towel.
While Lehecka has a slim lead in his rivalry with Dimitrov, the latter loves playing in Brisbane. He has a 26-6 career record at the venue. He advanced to his maiden career final here back in 2013, going down to Andy Murray in two competitive sets. He won the title here for the first time in 2017, and once again last year.
Dimitrov is currently riding an eight-match winning streak in Brisbane. Aside from Murray, Roger Federer, Marin Cilic, Nick Kyrgios, and Kei Nishikori are the only players to beat him here. He has only lost to some of the very best in the business here. Given his track record at the venue, he might be able to level his rivalry with a win over Lehecka this time.
Pick: Grigor Dimitrov to win in three sets.
