Casper Ruud, the prodigious talent from Norway, is considered as one of the best clay court players on the ATP tour. One of Ruud’s famous wins on hardcourt came at the 2022 Miami Masters, where he beat Alexander Zverev in the quarter finals. However, he lost to World No. 3 Carlos Alcaraz in the final.

Ruud defeated Tsitsipas in straight sets at the 2024 Barcelona Open to win his maiden ATP 500 title after seven attempts. He reached the final of the 2024 Monte Carlo Masters, defeating No. 1 Novak Djokovic in the semifinals. However, Tsitsipas defeated him in the final. After making it to the 2024 Miami Open's fourth round, he made history as the only male player under 25 to win 100 games on both clay and hard courts. He made it to the final of the 2024 Los Cabos Open and 2024 Mexican Open but lost to Jordan Thompson and Alex de Minaur, respectively.

By advancing to the quarterfinals of the 2024 Paris Olympics, Ruud became the first player from Norway to achieve this goal and recorded his 250th career win against Francisco Cerúndolo in the same tournament. Ruud has qualified for the 2024 Nitto ATP Finals by acquring the final three singles position alongside Alex de Minaur and Andrey Rublev.
