The French Open, or Roland Garros, is one of the four majors on the professional tennis circuit. Originally called the French Championship, the tournament was played for the first time more than a century ago, in 1891. The event's 128th edition in 2024 was won by world No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz, who defeated Alexander Zverev 6–3, 2–6, 5–7, 6–1, 6–2 in the final.
Rafael Nadal has the record for most consecutive wins, with five from 2010 to 2014, and the most titles (14) as of May 2025. He had a streak from 2005 to 2008 as well, but Roger Federer broke it in 2009. Chris Evert holds the most titles in women's singles (seven French Open titles). Roy Emerson from Australia has won the French Open six times in the doubles category. Iga Swiatek has won the title four times in her career as of May 2025 and is popularly known as the Queen of Clay.
