The French Open, also known as the Roland Garros, is one of the oldest and prestigious tennis tournaments in the world. It is the second of the four Grand Slams, and takes place after the Australian Open.
The first edition of the French Open was held in 1891, and H. Briggs was the first champion in the tournament's history. In 1897, the women's competition was added, and F. Masson was the first woman singles champion in French Open history.
Spanish tennis star Rafael Nadal is the most successful player in the tournament history. He has won the French Open singles title 14 times in his career.
