Jack Draper vs Ugo Humbert preview
World No. 20 Jack Draper will take on World No. 18 Ugo Humbert in the quarterfinals of the Japan Open.
After a runner-up finish in the Adelaide International, Draper captured his first title on tour at the Stuttgart Open. He also reached the semifinals of the US Open for the first time in his career, but lost to Jannik Sinner in a grueling three-set bout. The Italian outfoxed Draper in three hours and three minutes.
The Brit entered Tokyo on the back of consecutive losses in the Davis Cup Finals. He made amends by cruising past Mattia Bellucci in the first round and then outclassed Hubert Hurkacz in the second. Draper defeated the Pole 6-4, 6-4.
Ugo Humbert, meanwhile, caught the shutterbugs attention with title-triumphs in the Open 13 Provence in Marseille and the Dubai Tennis Championships. He also reached the fourth round of Wimbledon, where he lost to Carlos Alcaraz in four sets.
The Frenchman entered Tokyo on the back of a second round exit in New York. He started his campaign with a solid win against Shintaro Mochizuki in the first round and then outsmarted Brandon Nakashima in the second. Humbert defeated the American Nakashima 6-3, 6-2.

Jack Draper vs Ugo Humbert prediction
Two left-handers will battle for a place in the last four of the Japan Open. They've been clinical in the event so far and will be eager to stake their claim for a title. Draper has continued his purple patch in Tokyo after a sensational run in New York this month. He is yet to lose his serve in the last two matches and has also fired 20 aces so far.
Humbert, on the contrary, has taken out the in-form Brandon Nakashima in the previous round. After a strong start to the season, the Frenchman registered ordinary results during the claycourt swing. He will be eager to get back to his best in Tokyo and end the season on a high.
Humbert will have experience on his side and two hardcourt titles to his name this year. Considering their current form however, Draper will have the better chance to overpower the Frenchman in the next round. The Brit has been constantly raising his level on tour and looks poised to chalk up another strong result this week.
Pick: Jack Draper to win in three-sets.
