Diane Parry vs Suzan Lamens preview
Seventh seed Diane Parry will take on Suzan Lamens in the semifinals of the Japan Women's Open on Saturday.
Parry has had a promising season so far, having garnered 23 wins from 44 matches, including semifinal runs in the Nottingham Open and the Palermo Ladies Open. She also reached the fourth round of the BNP Paribas Open, where she lost to Maria Sakkari in three-sets.
The Frenchwoman entered Osaka on the back of a first round exit in Wuhan. She outfoxed the likes of Erika Andreeva and Greet Minnen en route to the quarterfinals and then brushed aside Clara Tauson to enter the last four. Parry defeated Tauson in three-sets, 6-3, 1-6, 6-3.
Suzan Lamens, meanwhile, has played most of her tennis on the ITF circuit this year. She reached the quarterfinals of the Budapest Open, which was her best result on the main tour. She also registered a second round appearance in the Libema Open, where she lost to Naomi Osaka in straight sets.
The Dutchwoman entered the main draw in Osaka via the qualifiers and then edged past Viktoriya Tomova in the first round. She then outsmarted the likes of Lucia Bronzetti and Ana Bogdan to book her spot in the semifinals. Lamens defeated Bogdan in three-sets, 4-6, 6-3, 6-3.

Diane Parry vs Suzan Lamens prediction
Diane Parry has been close to making a significant impact on tour since the past two years. She has a versatile all-around game with a stylish one handed backhand in her armour. The Frenchwoman won 70% of her first serve points in the last match and maintained her composure to get past Clara Tauson in three-sets.
Suzan Lamens, on the other hand, is moving in the right direction on the main tour. She reached her first ever quarterfinal in Budapest and is now two wins away from lifting the title in Osaka. The Dutchwoman has only dropped one set in her last five matches and will be hoping to bring her A-game to the fore in the all important semifinal round.
Considering their record on paper and experience at the highest level, Parry will undoubtedly be the favorite to come out on top. However, the 22-year-old will need to show her resilience against a stubborn opponent in Lamens and back her ability to claim victory. Parry, though, should be able to absorb the early pressure and storm through to the finals of the Japan Women's Open this year.
Pick: Parry to win in straight sets.
