2023 Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova is currently ranked World No. 6 in singles. The 25-year-old achieved the career-high ranking of World No. 6 after reaching the quarterfinals of the 2023 US Open for the first time. She became the first unseeded woman tennis player in the Open Era to win the Wimbledon Open, defeating Ons Jabeur in the final.

Marketa Vondrousova has won two WTA singles titles to date, and won her first title when she was just 17. After winning the Ladies Biel Open in 2017, she broke into the WTA Top-100 for the first time. For her exceptional performance on court she was awarded the Sportsperson of the Year at the 2023 Czech Republic Sportsperson of the year awards. Vondrousova qualified for her first WTA Finals in 2023. She reached the quarterfinals of the 2024 Dubai Tennis Championships, where she lost to Sorana Cirstea. She is a left-handed player who is known for confusing opponents with her variety of shots, especially the drop shot. Her favorite surface is clay, but she also enjoys playing on hard courts. At the Stuttgart Open 2024, the Czech star reached the semifinal, defeating reigning Australian Open winner Aryna Sabalenka in the quarterfinal.
