World No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz's hair has been subject to a couple of friendly social media potshots recently, with Joao Felix and Sergio Reguilon both taking aim at the Spaniard's unkempt hair.
Alcaraz recently posted a series of images of himself practicing on clay courts ahead of his trip to South America for the Argentina Open, which begins on February 13. In those images, the 19-year-old can be seen sporting a head full of unkempt hair, which has quite clearly not seen a barber's scissors in a long time.
Atletico Madrid footballer Joao Fellix, who now plays for British side Chelsea FC on loan, commented on Alcaraz's Instagram post. Felix tagged Alcaraz's friend and fellow pro footballer Sergio Reguilon, asking the latter to take him to a barber.
"@sergioregui take him to a barber bro 🤣🤣," Joao Felix commented on Instagram, which has been translated from Spanish.
Reguilon, who plays for Atletico Madrid on loan, responded to Felix, insisting that there is not much more he can do about Alcaraz's hair.
"@joaofelix79 I can't do more bro," Reguilon replied.
Reguilon is a good friend of Alcaraz, as revealed by the latter during Wimbledon last year.
“He’s (Sergio Reguilon) a friend of mine,” said Alcaraz. “He told me he’s going to try to watch my match. He’s a good supporter.”
"Super excited to travel to Argentina and play there" - Carlos Alcaraz is confirmed to feature in the Argentina Open
Carlos Alcaraz withdrew from the Australian Open earlier this year owing to a muscle problem in his right leg. However, days after pulling out of the Grand Slam, he announced he would be fit in time for the Argentina Open, set to take place in mid-February.
He posted a video on social media, confirming his presence at the Buenos Aires-based event.
"I wanted to let you guys know that I will be playing the Argentina Open. I'm honestly super excited to travel to Argentina and play there, so I hope to see everyone there. I'll see you soon," Carlos Alcaraz said.
The former US Open champion is then expected to head to Rio de Janeiro for the ATP 500 Rio Open, after which the Spaniard will head to Mexican shores for the Abierto Mexicano in Acapulco.
The 19-year-old will be hoping to close the gap between himself and World No. 1 Novak Djokovic, whom he currently trails by 270 points.
