The teenage star became the lowest-ranked player to win the 2024 Next Generation ATP Finals after beating Learner Tien. His best Grand Slam performance was at the 2025 Australian Open, where he reached the second round. Fonseca created the biggest upset by defeating Andrey Rublev 7-6, 6-3, 7-6 in straight sets before losing to Lorenzo Sonego.
