The 19-year-old professional tennis player, Nishesh Basavareddy, came to prominence after he was drawn against Novak Djokovic at the 2025 Australian Open in the first round. After turning professional in December 2024, he participated in his maiden main draw match at the 2025 Brisbane International, where he won against Lucas Pouille and Borna Gojo before losing to Gael Monfils. His triumph continued as he qualified for the 2025 ASB Classic, where he advanced to his maiden semi-final.

Basavareddy eliminated defending champion Alejandro Tabilo in the fourth round and made it to the semi-final (lost vs. Monfils). As of January 2025, he has won two Challenger titles, the Puerto Vallarta Open and the Tiburon Challenger, while making it to five other finals.
