Who Are the Cerúndolo Brothers?

The aspiring Argentine tennis player Francisco Cerúndolo has made a name for himself on the ATP Tour with his consistent performances and versatile playing style. He also proved his adaptability on different surfaces when he won the Eastbourne International, a grass court event. He finished his maiden final of the season at the 2025 Argentina Open, where he lost to Joao Fonseca in straight sets.

His success continued as he finished semifinalist at the Chile Open in 2025 before he lost to Laslo Djere. Cerundolo reached back-to-back quarterfinals at the 2025 Rio Open and the 2025 Indian Wells Masters, losing to Alexandre Müller and Carlos Alcaraz. As of March 2025, he is ranked No. 24 in singles by the ATP and achieved the career-high ranking of World No. 19 in June 2023. His Grand Slam accomplishments include reaching the fourth round of the 2023 and 2024 French Open.

Cerundolo helped Argentina qualify for the 2024 Davis Cup. At the 2024 Laver Cup, he registered a win against Casper Ruud in the group stage. He recorded his fourth top-10 win of the season at the Paris Masters by defeating top seed Andrey Rublev. He lifted the trophy of his third ATP title at the 2024 Croatia Open, defeating Lorenzo Musetti in the final. He is an aggressive player who is known for his massive forehand and reliable backhand.

Juan Manuel Cerundolo

People familiar with the name ‘Cerúndolo’ could also mistake it for Juan Manuel Cerúndolo. Juan Manuel Cerúndolo is also an Argentine professional tennis player. He is a left-handed player with a two-handed backhand. He has won one title as of February 2025, which came at the 2021 Córdoba Open, in front of his home fans. Juan Manuel achieved a career-high ranking of No. 79 in January 2022 with ranking of No. 126 as of March 2025. But the question arises, are these two Cerúndolos related?

Are Juan Manuel and Francisco Cerúndolo Brothers?

As it turns out, Francisco and Juan Manuel are the Cerúndolo brothers on the ATP men’s tour. The siblings have a rich sporting history in their family. Their parents Alejandro "Toto" Cerúndolo and María Luz Rodríguez were both tennis players. They set up a tennis academy where both brothers began playing the sport.

Francisco Cerúndolo started when he was five, while Juan Manuel Cerúndolo began playing when he was just three years old. The brothers also have a middle sister named María Constanza Cerundolo who is a field hockey player and even won the gold medal at the 2018 Youth Olympics in Buenos Aires.

The Cerúndolo brothers do have contrasting playing traits. Francisco Cerúndolo plays right-handed as opposed to Juan Manuel Cerúndolo. Francisco Cerúndolo was born on August 13, 1998 while Juan Manuel Cerúndolo was born on November 15, 2001. However, there are similarities in their personalities as well.

Both brothers are avid soccer fans and support the Argentinian club River Plate. The brothers also enjoy watching Netflix during their time off the court and identify Batman as their favorite superhero. The Cerúndolos even share an interest in ‘asado’ which is Argentinian barbecue. With respect to tennis, both of them prefer playing on clay.

Juan Manuel Cerúndolo Personality

Juan Manuel Cerúndolo is nicknamed Juanma and is personally influenced by fellow left-hander Rafael Nadal for his fighting spirit. He loves to play FIFA on his PlayStation and has admitted that having ice cream is a guilty pleasure. He considers himself calm and a loner off the court. He has revealed that his patience is his best trait while his selfishness is his worst quality.

Francisco Cerúndolo, on the other hand, is nicknamed Fran. He was inspired by Roger Federer and fellow Argentine David Nalbandian. He has said that his dream job is to be a singer since he loves music. His favorite artists are Bad Bunny and Bob Marley. Apparently, he is also good at math.

Cerúndolo loves stats and numbers and is even pursuing a bachelor's degree in management via online courses at the University of Palermo. He has said that being smart is his best quality while being lazy is his worst character.
