“Trump Trump Baby”, a rap song by Florida rapper Forgiato Blow, featuring model Amber Rose was played during the 2024 Republican National Convention. The politically-charged track, rapped to the tune of Vanilla Ice’s 90s’ hit “Ice Ice Baby”, was released on June 28 and debuted on Billboard last week.
However, Amber, who sparked controversy on Monday following her Trump-endorsing speech at the RNC, was not included on the charts. Clips of the music video played on the jumbotron during the convention at Wisconsin’s Milwaukee were shared on social media platforms, prompting netizens’ reactions.
"cringe and repulsive", one X user wrote expressing their distaste for the song.
"I can't watch that level of cringe. I can't imagine what the audience was thinking", another commented.
"They ripped off a song that ripped off a song that ripped of another song", joked one person.
One user noted that 'Ice Ice Baby', the song that Forgiato imitated, sampled the bassline of David Bowie and British rock band Queen's iconic single "Under Pressure", adding both Bowie and the band's frontman, Freddie Mercury are popular queer icons.
"Fitting that they're aping on a song that plagiarized the work of not one but TWO queer people", noted one X user.
"Did they edit this with AI?? The amount of SFX and transitions and everything is wild", wondered another person.
"This is the worst Rap I’ve ever heard. Couldn’t they have at least gotten somebody with actual talent?", wrote one.
Amber Rose on why she chose to vote for Trump
Earlier this year, Amber Rose spoke about her support for the former president in an interview. The 40-year-old mother of two was asked why she chose to vote for Trump, adding the politician was someone who does not sympathize with women's rights. As a response, Amber asked:
"Is Donald Trump not for women's rights issues?"
She added:
"He's trying to make America great again. That's for women too right? So, there you go."
Referring to several other celebrities shifting their support to Trump, Amber Rose explained:
"I think we just did our research and we're not brainwashed anymore by the left...I can say that about myself. All these years I've been brainwashed and I'm not anymore."
At the Republican National Convention that kicked off on July 15, Amber Rose revealed her father was the first person in her family to support Donald Trump. She said:
"My entire family is racially diverse. and I believed the left-wing propoganda that Donald Trump was a racist.
Amber said she began reading articles on Trump and did her own research to conclude:
"I realized Donald Trump and his supporters don’t care if you’re Black, white, gay or straight. It’s all love. And that’s when it hit me: These are my people. This is where I belong."
The model reasoned her priority is to keep her children safe and provide better opportunities. The rapper said she believes the best way to attain these is by voting for Donald Trump in his presidential election.
Although Amber does not have her own lines in Forgiato's "Trump Trump Baby", the Mayor of MAGAville rapper does mention her name:
"Hey fire we going out with this one/ It's the mayor of Magaville baby/ Amber Rose/ You know who we voting for"
In the music video, Amber is seen lip-syncing to the bars as she vibes alongside Forgiato.
