The first round of the 2024 NHL draft is in the books, and rounds 2 through 7 are set for Saturday, June 29, in Las Vegas. Heading into Round 2, there still are plenty of quality players, while some teams are still looking to make their first selection.
Let's look at a second-round mock draft for the 2024 NHL draft.
2024 NHL Mock Draft picks for Round 2
Pick 33, San Jose Sharks: Andrew Basha, LW
With the first pick of the second round, the San Jose Sharks draft Andrew Basha from the Medicine Hat Tigers of the WHL.
Basha recorded 30 goals and 55 assists for 85 points in 63 games.
Pick 34, Carolina Hurricanes: Teddy Stiga, LW
The Carolina Hurricanes traded out of the first round and took Teddy Stiga, a left winger of the US National Team Development Team.
Stiga recorded 18 goals and 20 assists for 38 points in 27 games and is committed to Boston College.
Pick 35, Anaheim Ducks: Charlie Elick, D
The Anaheim Ducks turned to defense for their third draft pick, as they selected Beckett Sennecke at third overall and defenseman Stian Solberg at 23rd overall.
Anaheim now takes Charlie Elick a defenseman out of Brandon in the WHL.
Pick 36, Columbus Blue Jackets: Igor Chernyshov, LW
The Columbus Blue Jackets needed help to score and added Igor Chernyshov, a left winger out of the KHL. He may not come to the NHL for a few years. But he is a good offensive player.
Pick 37, Winnipeg Jets: Jesse Pulkkinen, D
The Winnipeg Jets make their first pick of the 2024 NHL draft by selecting Jesse Pulkkinen.
Pulkkinen is a left-shot defenseman who's 6-foot-6, 203lbs.
Pick 38, Colorado Avalanche: Ryder Ritchie, RW
Colorado takes Ryder Ritche 38th overall right winger from the Prince Albert Raiders of the WHL. Last season, he recorded 19 goals and 25 assists.
Pick 39, Ottawa Senators: Cole Hutson, D
The Ottawa Senators select another defenseman by taking Cole Hutson. Hutson is committed to Boston University.
Pick 40, Seattle Kraken: Nikita Artamonov, LW
Seattle needs help scoring the puck and took left winger Nikita Artamonov from Russia. He recorded seven goals and 16 assists in the KHL last season as an 18-year-old.
Pick 41, Calgary Flames: Lucas Pettersson, C
The Calgary Flames appear to be starting a rebuild and centermen are key to that as they take Lucas Pettersson from Sweden.
