The NHL draft is right around the corner, with Round 1 set to begin in just a few short hours in Las Vegas. The action continues the following day with Rounds 2-7. Teams are making their final preparations and finalizing their draft boards, ready to adapt as things unfold.

While this year's draft class may not have generational talents like last year's Connor Bedard and Leo Carlsson, there's plenty of reason to be optimistic about the 2024 NHL draft class.

This year's draft class will feature several players with close ties to women's hockey stars from the past, present and future. With that in mind, let's look at three NHL draft prospects related to prominent women athletes.

Dakoda Rhéaume-Mullen is the son of Manon Rhéaume, the first and only woman to ever play in the NHL. In 1992, Manon signed a contract with the Tampa Bay Lightning and played as a goaltender during a preseason game.

Her son, Dakoda, is eligible to be selected in this year's draft. However, it's unclear whether he will be a late pick or go undrafted.

#2: Tij Iginla

Tij Iginla is a forward looking to follow in the footsteps of his father, Jarome Iginla, in the draft. While his father needs no introduction, many fans may not know that Tij is also the brother of Jade Iginla, who has been tearing it up on the ice at the NCAA level. As a freshman, Jade earned Eastern College Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year honors.

Tij is projected to be a top-10 pick in this year's NHL draft, putting him in a position to potentially go higher than his father.

#3: Philippe Blais-Savoie

Philippe Blais-Savoie is projected to be a mid-to-late selection in this year's draft. The Colorado College commit is the brother of not one, but two women's NCAA standouts.

His sister, Evelyne Blais-Savoie is a skater for the University of Vermont, while his other sister, Juliette Blais-Savoie is currently competing for the University of Toronto. This makes him the only player on this list with two connections to prominent women's hockey players.
