The Montreal Canadiens continue to be one of the hottest teams in the National Hockey League. The Habs entered Tuesday night's game against the Utah Hockey Club with a 9-2-1 record in their last 12 games.

Meanwhile, the Utah Hockey Club has struggled of late, having lost eight of its last 10 games.

The Canadiens would make their first-ever visit to Delta Center in Salt Lake City a memorable one, as they defeated the Utah Hockey Club 5-3 and improved to 21-18-4.

Josh Doan, the son of Arizona Coyotes icon Shane Doan, opened the scoring for Utah shortly into the first period with a power-play goal. While the Canadiens knotted the score thanks to Mike Matheson's third goal, Utah seized the lead right back after Nick Bjugstad scored.

Once again, the Habs knotted the score; Patrik Laine scored a rare even-strength goal to tie things up 2-2 with his first non-power-play goal in a Canadiens uniform. They then took the lead thanks to the first of what would be two goals from Kirby Dach.

While Logan Cooley tied up the game once again early in the third period, Montreal pulled away in the final frame thanks to Cole Caufield's 24th goal, followed by Dach's second goal of the night and eighth of the season.

Sam Montembeault made 22 saves in the win, while Utah's Karel Vejmelka picked up the loss despite 21 saves.

#1. Kirby Dach

Dach had his second two-goal performance of the season as he came through in the clutch for the Canadiens when they needed it the most.

Teams who are intent on returning to the postseason, like Montreal is, must rely upon their depth scoring for any realistic shot at making a run. For Dach to score not once but twice to help power the Habs to victory is a very good sign for them moving forward.

#2. Lane Hutson

The rookie defenseman is officially on Calder Trophy watch after he picked up another three points, giving him a total of 32 assists so far on the season; he's also scored three goals.

He also finished with a +3 rating while coming in third overall in total ice time among Habs defensemen.

#3. Cole Caufield

Montreal's top center continues to do it all for them, picking up a goal and an assist as part of the Canadiens victory.

He now has 42 points on the season, including 24 goals.
