The Montreal Canadiens are beginning to heat up, having now won eight of their last ten games. They came from behind against the Vancouver Canucks on Monday night, earning a 5-4 victory in overtime at Bell Centre in downtown Montreal.

Nick Suzuki's goal in overtime secured the extra point for the Canadiens; his goal had to withstand a video review.

With the win, the Canadiens improved to 19-18-3, while the Canucks fell to 18-12-9.

Cole Caufield began the scoring on the night, netting his 22nd goal of the season just 1:07 into the game. But J.T. Miller would tie things up with his tenth goal at the halfway point of the opening period.

The Canucks then took a 3-1 lead in the game's middle frame thanks to goals from Miller (his second of the game) and Jonathan Lekkerimaki. But Kaiden Guhle brought the Habs back to within a goal soon afterward.

The third period was a thriller, as the Habs got goals from Kirby Dach and Lane Hutson to re-grab the lead. However, Jake DeBrusk would soon tie the score with his 17th goal.

A costly penalty to Vancouver put Montreal on the power play, and Suzuki took advantage.

Goaltender Sam Montembeault finished with 16 saves for Montreal, while Kevin Lankinen finished with 19 saves on the 24 shots he faced.

3 most impressive Montreal Canadiens players from 5-4 overtime win over Vancouver Canucks

#1. Nick Suzuki

The Canadiens captain is showing a new level of leadership during Montreal's winning streak.

Not only did he score a goal with an assist, but he also continued to lead by example and showed the rest of his young teammates the right way to play.

#2.Cole Caufield

Continuing his career season which began by switching his jersey number to honor the late Johnny Gaudreau, Caufield has managed to find a new level of play at just the right time.

He fired three shots on goal during Monday's game while also registering an assist.

#3. Lane Hutson

The young Michigan native, playing in his first full NHL season, is making sure that he's going to be included in the conversation for the Calder Trophy as the Rookie of the Year.

With a goal and an assist against the Canucks, Hutson is playing with the poise of a seasoned veteran rather than a timid rookie, and he's looking like a home run draft pick for Montreal.

The Canadiens are back in action when they take on the Washington Capitals at Capital One Arena on Friday.
