The New York Rangers were finally able to end what has been a miserable four-game losing streak as part of 15 losses in 19 games on home ice on Thursday, defeating the Boston Bruins by a 2-1 final score at Madison Square Garden.

The win improved the Rangers to 17-19-1, while the Bruins fell to 20-16-4.

The scoring was started in the opening 20 minutes of play thanks to Mika Zibanejad, who notched his seventh goal of the season. The goal was a welcome relief to the Swedish forward, who has been roundly criticized for his performance this season.

Just over three minutes later, Brett Berard extended New York's lead to 2-0 with his third goal; the Rangers took their 2-0 lead into the first intermission.

Boston would cut the New York lead in half thanks to Elias Lindholm's seventh goal just before the midway point of the second period. And press as they would, the Bruins were unable to secure the equalizer.

Jonathan Quick, making the start in place of the injured Igor Shesterkin, picked up his 399th career victory by making 32 saves; meanwhile, Jeremy Swayman stopped 32 shots in a losing effort.

Which three performances by Rangers players stood out the most?

#1. Jonathan Quick

Regarded as arguably the greatest American-born goaltender in NHL history, Quick moved one step closer to the historic mark of 400 career victories.

The Rangers are going to be relying upon him while Shesterkin rehabilitates the injury that forced him onto Injured Reserve, and Quick turned back the clock with a vintage performance.

He stopped all seven shots from Bruins sniper David Pastrnak, while also stopping three shots from captain Brad Marchand and four attempts from Justin Brazeau.

#2. Mika Zibanejad

Zibanejad has earned his fair share of criticism for his miscues and errors this season and has had his name pop up in trade discussions numerous times.

But that was put on hold on Thursday night with his first-period goal, banging home a loose puck at the side of the net for his 700th career point.

#3. K'Andre Miller

Another Rangers player who has faced criticism for his performances, Miller looked much more like himself rather than the defenseman who was routinely caught out of position in New York's recent losses to the Tampa Bay Lightning and Florida Panthers.

He finished the night with a +1 performance while coming in second only to Adam Fox in total ice time.
