The Boston Bruins snapped a six-game losing skid in a thrilling 4-3 overtime win over the rival Florida Panthers on Saturday afternoon. Boston improved its record to 21-19-5 (47 points), while the Panthers dropped to 25-15-3 (53 points).

It was a much-needed win, to say the least. The Bruins' losing streak had them on the cusp of falling out of a playoff spot, unfamiliar territory for such a successful franchise. They hope this will be the start of a more consistent final 37 games of the season.

Boston got off to the exact type of start they were looking for. The Bruins' 31st-ranked power play in the NHL heading into Saturday's action capitalized 6:02 into the game, thanks to a backhand from Morgan Geekie.

They held that 1-0 lead until Evan Rodrigues buried a power-play goal of his own to tie it at one late in the first period. 1-1 is where things stood after the opening frame.

It was a sluggish second period that saw the Bruins only manage four shots on goal. Thankfully, Jeremy Swayman kept them afloat, stopping all 14 shots the Panthers threw his way. The Bruins eventually provided their goaltender some well-deserved run support as Morgan Geekie found David Pastrnak for a tap-in goal. Boston led 2-1 after two periods.

Less than one minute into the final frame, Sam Reinhart finished off a backdoor feed from Aleksander Barkov to square things up. Boston responded as Oliver Wahlstrom put home his first goal as Bruin in a net-front scramble.

From there on, the Panthers made a hard push to even up the game but just could not beat Swayman. That was until Florida pulled Sergei Bobrovsky for the extra attack and Sam Reinhart forced overtime with a knuckleball goal with under two seconds left.

After a back-and-forth first three minutes of three-on-three, Charlie McAvoy took a high stick from Sam Bennett, drawing a penalty. Pastrnak proved to be the hero with a fluttering shot of his own, deflecting off of Reinhart and finding the back of the net. Backstopped by Swayman, Boston pulled out a huge overtime win.

The Bruins now have a couple of days off before returning to action on Tuesday night when they'll host the Tampa Bay Lightning. The puck drops at 7 p.m. ET at TD Garden.

Here are the three most impressive player performances from the Bruins' 4-3 overtime win over the Panthers.

3 most impressive players from Boston Bruins' 4-3 overtime win over Florida Panthers

#1. Jeremy Swayman

The Bruins star goaltender was phenomenal on Saturday afternoon. In a game where a massive 42-18 margin outshot Boston, Swayman saved his team. He stopped 39 out of 42 shots for his 14th win of the season.

It was the type of performance you expect from the 26-year-old who earned a $66 million contract in the offseason.

#2. David Pastrnak

After a crazy Friday that included reports of a rift with teammate Brad Marchand, Pastrnak came to play in Florida. The superstar winger was the hero on Saturday as he factored in on three of the four goals, including the overtime-winning goal.

He racked up two goals and one assist in 25:09 of total ice time. The Bruins and their fans hope to see this version of Pasta moving forward.

#3. Morgan Geekie

Morgan Geekie provided Boston with some crucial depth scoring. In 18:56 of ice time, the 26-year-old produced one goal and one assist. His goal came on the power play, providing a 31st-ranked unit with some confidence.

For a team struggling to score, production from Geekie was a welcomed sight.
