For the second consecutive game, the Toronto Maple Leafs defeated an Eastern Conference opponent in front of their home fans at Scotiabank Arena in downtown Toronto.

They were matched up against the Philadelphia Flyers, who had lost two of their last three games.

After Sunday's game, the Flyers have now failed to pick up a win in three of their last four games, dropping a 2-3 final score in overtime to fall to 17-19-4, while the Leafs improved to 26-13-2.

Tyson Foerster got the scoring going for the Flyers just 3:07 after the puck dropped, giving Philadelphia the 1-0 lead. However, the Leafs would strike twice later in the period, as they got goals from Matthew Knies and Oliver Ekman-Larsson.

This marked Knies's fourth goal in two games, following his hattrick on Saturday against the Boston Bruins.

Scott Laughton knotted the score at 2-2 with his ninth goal just past the midway point of the second period.

Neither team managed to find the back of the net for the rest of regulation, setting up overtime. And in the extra session, defenseman Morgan Rielly made the most of his opportunity.

#1. Morgan Rielly

The veteran statesman on the Maple Leafs's blue line in terms of games played, Rielly isn't typically the first option when it comes to beating the opposition goaltender.

But it was his turn to play the role of hero for Toronto on Sunday, as he not only scored the game-winning goal but also played a game-leading 26:43 of ice time following the injury to Jake McCabe.

#2. Matthew Knies

Knies continues his impressive showing for the Leafs, registering his fourth goal in the last two games after his hat trick on Saturday against the Boston Bruins.

With his goal, Knies has now scored 15 goals on the season, and he's on pace to reach a career-high of 30 goals. Toronto's second pick in the 2021 NHL Draft, he is proving to be the correct selection.

#3. Dennis Hildeby

Thrust into action thanks to the injury to Anthony Stolarz and after Joseph Woll started Sunday's game against the Bruins, it was Hildeby's turn between the pipes.

He delivered an impressive performance, blocking 30 shots from the Flyers, showing little resemblance to a 23-year-old rookie just promoted from the American Hockey League.
