The Winnipeg Jets are heating back up, winning six of their last seven games, beating the visiting Nashville Predators at the Canada Life Center on Monday.

They shut out the Predators 3-0, improving to 27-10-1. Meanwhile, the struggling Predators remained at the bottom of the Western Conference with an 11-19-7 record.

Neither team found the back of the net during the opening 20 minutes before Dylan DeMelo opened the scoring at the 17:18 mark of the second period. In the third period, Gabriel Vilardi scored a pair of power-play goals in 62 seconds to make it 3-0.

Three most impressive Winnipeg Jets players in 3-0 win over Nashville Predators

#1 Gabriel Vilardi

The Winnipeg Jets asserted themselves with the man advantage ver the Predators, scoring twice on the power play, through Vilardi's 16th and 17th of the season.

“You've got to have good special teams to win in this league,” Vilardi said. “These games are so tight against other top teams and a lot of times it comes down to special teams, and we won that battle tonight and that's a big reason we won that game.”

#2 Connor Hellebuyck

The reigning Vezina Trophy winner is making it clear that he has no intention of giving up the prize. Hellebuyck stopped everything the Predators threw at him and earned his fifth shutout of the season.

#3 Dylan DeMelo

Playing in his fifth full season with the Jets, DeMelo picked up his first goal of the season late in the second period, thanks to a perfect shot from the right faceoff circle past the glove of Saros.

“That was great for (DeMelo) to come in that weak side,” Winnipeg coach Scott Arniel said.
"Great play by Barron to find him. We've talked about all year, getting different people chipping in and helping offensively… When your defense can be part of that offense, that’s big.”

The Winnipeg Jets will head out onto the road to the Rocky Mountains for a New Year's Eve matchup with the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday night.
