It was a wild Sunday night at the World's Most Famous Arena, as the Seattle Kraken outlasted hosts New York Rangers 7-5 in an offensive shootout.

Because his wife had gone into labor, Igor Shesterkin was unavailable for the game, so New York gave a start to veteran Jonathan Quick. While the opening 20 minutes of play were anything but high-scoring, the second period opened the floodgates on offense.

First-year Rangers forward Rielly Smith got the goal parade going, notching up his fifth goal of the season just 3:38 after the opening face-off. While the Rangers went to their dressing room with a 1-0 lead, the craziness soon began.

Oliver Bjorkstarnd knotted the scores with a power play goal at 1:46, only for New York's Filip Chytil score 1:04 later. Just 1:57 after that, the Rangers made it 3-1, thanks to Vincent Trocheck.

Seattle fought their way back into the contest, thanks to goals from Brandon Tanev, Eeli Tolvanen and Bjorkstrand again, but the Kraken seized the lead.

Vince Dunn and Shane Wright increased Seattle's lead to 6-3, only for the Rangers to come back again with goals from K'Andre Miller and Alexis Lafreniere. With Quick lifted for an extra attacker, the Kraken sealed a 7-5 win with a goal from Yanni Gourde into the empty net.

Three least impressive NY Rangers players in loss to Seattle Kraken feat. Jonathan Quick

#1 Jonathan Quick

The Rangers liked what they saw from veteran goaltender Jonathan Quick last season and brought him back for another campaign of backing up Igor Shesterkin.

Unfortunately for Quick, he suffered the worst outing of his time with the Rangers, allowing six goals on just 21 shots against. He was victimized for four goals on 11 shots in the second period alone, finishing with 15 saves.

Quick is the greatest American-born goaltender in NHL history but will want to put Sunday night's performance out of his mind in a hurry.

#2 Ryan Lindgren

New York's defenseman registered a -2 rating, thanks to his below-average performance on the ice against the Kraken, which included getting beat by Seattle's Branden Tanev on his drive toward the net and scoring the goal that set the stage for their comeback.

#3 Jimmy Vesey

Brought back for another season by Rangers GM Chris Drury, Vesey was a complete non-factor for the Rangers in a game that had all kinds of offensive opportunities.

After scoring a career-best 13 goals last season, he has only managed two this campaign.
