The Vancouver Canucks have run into consistency issues as they entered Tuesday night's contest against the Winnipeg Jets with a 1-3-1 record in their last five games. Meanwhile, the Jets are flying high, having won three straight and on the cusp of becoming the first NHL team to reach 30 victories on the season.

In the end, the Canucks failed to ground the Jets, who did in fact improve to 30 victories with a convincing 6-1 win at Canada Life Centre; the Canucks fell to 1-4-1 in their last six games and 19-14-10 overall.

The Canucks were torched by a natural hat trick from Jets forward Kyle Connor, who scored three times in just under seven minutes of play during the 1st period; the Jets took the 3-0 lead into the first intermission.

The onslaught continued into the second period, as the Jets increased their lead to 5-0 thanks to goals from Neal Pionk and Nino Niederreiter. Early in the third period, Mark Scheifele scored his 26th goal of the season while the Canucks were shorthanded.

They only managed to break the shutout attempt of Jets goaltender Connor Hellebuyck at the midway point of the third period thanks to Nils Hoglander.

Hellebuyck finished with 23 saves in the win, while Kevin Lankinen struggled by allowing six goals on 33 shots against.

3 least impressive Vancouver Canucks players from 6-1 loss to Winnipeg Jets

#1. Kevin Lankinen

It was not a good night for the Canucks goaltender, who was burned early and often. His first mistake came by misplaying the puck behind the net, which resulted in Connor's first goal of the night.

He then spat out a massive rebound on a shot from Pionk that landed right on Connor's stick; he deposited his second goal right then and there. Later in the game, Pionk's shot eluded Lankinen, who should have come up with the save.

By the time that Niederreiter scored, Lankinen had surrendered five goals on 21 shots against.

#2. Tyler Myers

One of Vancouver's leading defensemen, Myers didn't have a good night. He played in 20:01 of ice time, but finished with a -2 rating while also committing a pair of turnovers.

The Canucks' defense as a whole struggled against the Jets, but Myers' performance stood out especially.

#3. Elias Pettersson

It's been an up and down campaign for Pettersson, who plays like a dynamic young star some of the time and then is prone to stretches when he seems nearly invisible on the ice; Tuesday against the Jets was the latter.

He registered zero points while managing a single shot and finished -1.
