The Vancouver Canucks suffered a 6-2 defeat to the Edmonton Oilers on Thursday. The NHL scheduling dind't allow much time between visits for the Canucks and Oilers, They squared off against one another on Saturday night and also resulted in the three-game suspensions of Oilers captain Connor McDavid and Canucks defenseman Tyler Myers.

With neither player available for Thursday's rematch, one other notable difference was the change in location. This time, the two rivals met on Edmonton's home turf, and the hosts, Oilers, took advantage. Following the win, they improved to 30-15-3, while the Canucks fell to 20-17-10.

The Oilers raced out to a 3-0 lead in the opening 20 minutes, thanks to the first of two goals on the night from Zach Hyman along with further efforts from Leon Draisaitl and Adam Henrique.

The scoring continued in the second period, with Hyman scoring again along with a power-play goal from Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. While the Canucks responded with goals from Brock Boeser and Filip Hronek to cut the deficit to 5-2, it was nowhere near enough.

The Edmonton Oilers finished the scoring in the third period, thanks to Kasperi Kapanen, and got 24 saves from goaltender Calvin Pickard in the win.

Three least impressive Vancouver Canucks players from 6-2 loss to Edmonton Oilers

#1 Thatcher Demko

Once again, the Vancouver Canucks goaltender didn't look like one who was quickly developing a reputation last season as one of the best in the game.

Of course, it doesn't help that he missed several months while rehabilitating the injury that kept him out of all but one postseason game last spring and all of Training Camp and the exhibition play. But it's clear that he's still fighting to regain his confidence.

While he made 28 saves, he surrendered six goals for a porous save percentage of .824, not at all the kind of numbers the Vancouver Canucks need against a high-flying rival like the Oilers.

#2 Conor Garland

The focal point of the McDavid suspension was Garland, who had tied up McDavid in the seconds leading to the former's outburst.

However, Garland was a complete non-factor in the rematch with the Oilers, failing to find the scoresheet and also getting no shots on goal. He finished with a -2 rating.

#3 Jake DeBrusk

Another forward the Vancouver Canucks needed full energy and focus from, DeBrusk was a non-factor in the loss to the Oilers. He finished with zero points and a -2 rating and was also guilty of committing a turnover.
