The Vegas Golden Knights lost a tight 4-3 game to the Dallas Stars on Friday night at the American Airlines Center. The Golden Knights attempted to tally down 4-2, but could not get the equalizer after making the game a one-goal contest midway through the third period.
Jack Eichel scored twice for the Vegas Golden Knights, including a power play goal, with Shea Theodore (PPG) getting the other tally for the Knights. Meanwhile, Jason Robertson also scored twice for the Stars with Jamie Benn and Roope Hintz (PPG) getting the other markers for Vegas.
So, let’s take a look at the three least impressive Vegas Golden Knights players from their loss to the Dallas Stars on Friday night.
3 least impressive players from Vegas Golden Knights loss to Dallas Stars
#3 Tomas Hertl
Vegas Golden Knights center Tomas Hertl had a rough night, registering a minus-2 in over 18 minutes of ice time against the Stars. While he managed two shots on goal, he was unable to find the back of the net.
Moreover, Hertl did not contribute defensively, being a liability on the second line with Victor Olofsson and Pavel Dorofeyev. The line did not play well against Dallas, allowing the Stars to get two key goals to take the win on Friday night.
#2 Adin Hill
Adin Hill had a pedestrian game, stopping 23 of 27 shots. He gave up four goals, including a power play tally. Of course, all four goals can’t be solely pinned on Hill.
Jason Robertson’s second goal of the night was the result of a complete breakdown in front of the Vegas net. Four white shirts converged on the play. Yet, none were able to keep Robertson from firing the rebound into the back of the net.
The Vegas players got caught puck-watching, leaving Hill out to dry. Despite Hill’s efforts to keep the Knights in the game, the deficit was too much to overcome.
#1 Noah Hanifin
Noah Hanifin failed to be the shutdown defenseman the Vegas Golden Knights expected him to be against the Stars. Hanifin was a minus-2 on the night, with one crucial lapse coming late in the second period.
With the game tied at two, the Golden Knights were pinned in their own zone. After more than a minute out there, the Stars cycled the puck, leaving captain Jamie Benn to fire a shot past Adin Hill.
During the play, Hanifin was gassed, and unable to follow the puck. By the time the puck came to the front of the net, Hanifin was far too late to react.
Benn’s goal gave the Stars a 3-2 lead, setting up the Stars for the win.
The Golden Knights will have a chance to regroup on Saturday before taking on the Florida Panthers at the T-Mobile Arena on Sunday night.
