Columbus Blue Jackets forward Patrik Laine has requested a trade but so far nothing has happened. However, all signs point to Laine being traded at some point, but it could also happen during the season.

If Laine does get traded, there will be several teams who could benefit from having him. He is a former second-overall pick who can be a solid offensive player.

#1. Carolina Hurricanes

The Carolina Hurricanes looked poised to be competing for a Stanley Cup, but over the past two years, it looks more like their window is closing.

Carolina lost in the second round of the playoffs last season to the New York Rangers. Then, in the offseason, the Hurricanes lost Jake Guentzel, Teuvo Tervainen, Brady Skjei, and Brett Pesce. Although the last two are defensemen, it is still a big blow to their roster.

Martin Necas has also asked for a trade, so Carolina needs to add more skill upfront and Laine is exactly that. He would help replace the offense that is gone from Guentzel and Tervainen.

The Vegas Golden Knights won the Stanley Cup two years ago but their roster has been decimated since then. This offseason, Vegas lost Jonathan Marchessault and Chandler Stephenson in free agency who were two of their top offensive players.

Vegas has yet to add anyone of significance up front and Patrik Laine could be the perfect fit. Laine would be a top-six forward who could play with Jack Eichel and Mark Stone and give the Golden Knights some much-needed scoring.
