Alex DeBrincat is a forward playing for the Detroit Red Wings in the National Hockey League, as of December 2024. He joined the Erie Otters of the Ontario Hockey League in 2015 and spent three seasons with them, where he scored at least 51 goals in each of his first two seasons. He also won the Red Tilson Trophy as the OHL's most outstanding player in 2017. DeBrincat made the Chicago Blackhawks roster as a 19-year-old in 2017. He scored 28 goals and 52 points in his rookie season and followed that up with 41 goals and 76 points in his second season. He also became the second-youngest player in Blackhawks history to score 40 goals in a season. In the 2021-22 season, DeBrincat had NHL career highs in points (78) and assists (37), and matched his best in goals (41). He was also named to the NHL All-Star Game for the first time.

DeBrincat won numerous awards in OHL and CHL as well, he was named Rookie of the Year and won the Emms Family Award in his rookie season. In 2017, he won the Eddie Powers Memorial Trophy and the Jim Mahon Memorial Trophy. In 2024, he has been selected to the NHL All-Star game twice.
