He immediately made his impact in the league by scoring an impressive 52 goals and 54 assists in his debut season 2005-2006. His exceptional contribution earned him the Calder Memorial Trophy as the NHL's Rookie of the Year. His exceptional achievements in the sport have made him one of the greatest players in ice hockey. Ovechkin is no less in the field of studies, he is close to getting the degree of Doctor of Science in Pedagogical Science.
