Andrei Igorevich Svechnikov is a professional ice hockey winger, playing for the Carolina Hurricanes in the National Hockey League as of 2025. Notably, he was selected second overall by the Hurricanes in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft and has spent his entire professional career with them. Before that, Svechnikov had been playing in North America with the Muskegon Lumberjacks of the United States Hockey League (USHL) before joining the Barrie Colts of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), where he was named rookie of the year and earned the Emms Family Award.

Svechnikov made his NHL debut in 2018 and quickly made an impact, becoming the first player born in the 2000s to score an NHL goal. He continued to excel, scoring memorable goals, including the first Michigan goal ( a lacrosse-style goal scored by an attacker starting behind the opposing net) in NHL history. Svechnikov ended that season with 24 goals and 37 assists for 61 points. The following season, his gametime was limited due to injuries, but he was awarded an eight-year, 62$ million contract with the Hurricanes.
