Looking at the Colorado Avalanche's season so far, and the team's schedule for the rest of October

This year, the Colorado Avalanche entered the 2024-25 season as one of the top five teams with the best betting odds to win the Stanley Cup. Despite that, their campaign got off to a slow start with four straight losses.

In their season opener, the team fell to the Vegas Golden Knights on the road, before then losing three straight at home. These losses were to the Columbus Blue Jackets, New York Islanders and Boston Bruins, with Alexandar Georgiev in net for three of those losses.

Then, on Oct. 18, the team was able to secure their first win of the season against the Anaheim Ducks in overtime, before then hitting the road for a three-game stretch.

On Oct. 20, the team faced off against the San Jose Sharks, picking up their second straight win, before then defeating the Seattle Kraken on Oct. 22. Most recently, the team picked up a 5-1 win over the Utah Hockey Club, to bring their season record to 4-4-0.

Following Sunday's clash with the Ottawa Senators, the Avalanche will play the Chicago Blackhawks at home in the second leg of a back-to-back. That will be before closing out the month on Wednesday with a home game against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
