Tonight, the Chicago Blackhawks will collide with the Detroit Red Wings as the team looks to build momentum on a 3-1 win over the Colorado Avalanche on Wednesday. Since wrapping up 2024 with a five-game skid, the Blackhawks are 2-1 to start the new year, picking up wins over the Habs and Avalanche.

Despite that, the team is sitting in last place in the Central Division with a record of 14-25-2, three points behind the seventh-place Nashville Predators.

Meanwhile, in the case of the Detroit Red Wings, the team is heading into tonight's game with plenty of momentum on their side, winning five straight games, including wins over the Capitals and Jets, who both lead their respective divisions.

While Chicago has a number of players listed as day-to-day, including Alec Martinez, Craig Smith, Connor Murphy and Taylor Hall, the expectation is that Hall and Smith will be in action tonight.
