Established in 1924 as the NHL's first American team, the Bruins quickly found success, winning their first Stanley Cup in 1929. They are also one of the NHL Original Six teams alongside Detroit Red Wings, Chicago Blackhawks, Montreal Canadiens, Toronto Maple Leafs, and New York Rangers.

Led by legends like Eddie Shore and Frank Brimsek, they secured two more championships in 1939 and 1941. However, they embarked on a 29-year championship drought before stars like Bobby Orr and Phil Esposito stepped up and brought home a third Stanley Cup championship in 1970. This success fueled them for the rest of the decade as they clinched six divison titles and another Stanley Cup in the next ten years. Although consistently competitive and often contending for the playoffs, the Bruins faced playoff disappointments in the late 1990s and 2000s. However, they returned to glory in 2010–11, winning their sixth Stanley Cup behind goaltender Tim Thomas.
