The Boston Bruins were eliminated in the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs by the Florida Panthers who went on to win the Stanley Cup.
Since their playoff exit, Boston has turned its attention to the draft, which runs from June 28-29, and free agency, which opens up on July 1. The Bruins have just four picks in the 2024 NHL draft but do have a first-round pick after acquiring it in the Linus Ullmark trade.

Boston Bruins 2024 NHL Draft
Round 1, Pick 25: Sacha Boisvert, C
The Bruins' depth down the middle of the ice is a problem after the retirement of Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci last year. Boston also doesn't have a top-end center prospect coming up, which is why it uses its first-round selection on Sacha Boisvert who will play at the University of North Dakota next season.
Boisvert is a big body at 6 feet, 2 inches. In the USHL last season, he recorded 36 goals and 32 assists for 68 points. Boisvert will likely play two years at college before turning pro, but the Bruins need help down the middle, and he is the perfect prospect for them.
Round 4, Pick 122: Jan Spunar, G
With their second pick of the 2024 NHL draft, the Bruins select goalie Jan Spunar from the Portland Winterhawks of the WHL.
Spunar, 20, is from the Czech Republic and has been passed over in two NHL drafts. However, he has continued to have success at the WHL. This past season, he was 12-5-1 with a 2.63 GAA and a .914 SV%. Spunar can start playing in the AHL soon. He also gives Boston some much-needed goalie depth.
Round 5, Pick 154: Benjamin Poitras, C
The Bruins double-dip at center and select Benjamin Poitras, who has no relation to Boston forward Matthew Poitras.
Poitras wasn't selected in last year's draft. In the USHL last season, he recorded 20 goals and 33 assists for 53 points.
Poitras will be playing at Northeastern University next season and will likely remain there for a couple of years before he turns pro.
Round 6, Pick 186: Kaden Pitre, C
The Bruins select Kaden Pitre, a centerman from the Flint Firebirds.
Pitre's older brother, Coulson, was a third-round pick of the Anaheim Ducks in 2023. The two played on the same line with each other in Flint.
However, Kaden dealt with injuries. This past season, he had 10 goals and 20 assists for 30 points in 35 games, which hurt his draft stock.
