Brent Burns

Brent Burns is a Canadian ice hockey defenseman who as of October 2024, plays for the Carolina Hurricanes in the NHL. He started his NHL career with the Minnesota Wild after being drafted 20th overall in 2003. He made his debut on October 8, 2003, and scored his first goal in his third game. Burns initially played both forward and defense but moved to defense with the San Jose Sharks. In 2017, he won the Norris Trophy as the league’s top defenseman.

After a successful stint with the Sharks, Burns was traded to the Carolina Hurricanes in 2022. As per NHL, he reached his 600th NHL assist on December 2, 2023, making him one of only a few defensemen in NHL history to achieve that milestone. Burns has played all 82 games multiple times in his career.
