Boeser was drafted 23rd overall by the Vancouver Canucks in 2015 and quickly made an impact in the NHL. He debuted in March 2017 with a goal in his home state of Minnesota. That November, he scored a hat trick, becoming the first Canucks player under 20 to do so since 1990. Boeser's stellar performance earned him the league's Rookie of the Month title twice, in November and December. In 2018, he made his All-Star Game debut and was named MVP, a rare feat for a rookie. Despite a back injury that sidelined him for weeks, Boeser was a Calder Memorial Trophy finalist that season. The subsequent seasons saw injuries continue to plague him, nonetheless, he was rewarded with multi-year contract extensions in 2019 and in 2022 due to his strong performances.

Boeser's knack for scoring continued into the 2023-24 season, highlighted by multiple hat tricks and an All-Star selection.
