The Boston Bruins will look to get back to .500 when they face the Carolina Hurricanes on Thursday after dropping a 2–0 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday. With just one win in their last five games, the early portion of the season hasn't played out how the franchise had hoped following their second-round elimination from the playoffs last year.
Ahead of tonight's game against Carolina, the team has just one player on the injury report, defenceman Alec Regula, who is still recovering from offseason knee surgery. Given the procedure, Regula missed the entirety of the preseason, with no word yet on when he will be back in action.
Aside from that, the team will be heading into tonight's game with a fully healthy roster. With that in mind, their projected lines for tonight's game are as follows:
Forwards:
- LW John Beecher - C Pavel Zacha - RW David Pastrnak
- LW Brad Marchand - C Elias Lindholm - RW Mark Kastelic
- LW Max Jones - C Charlie Coyle - RW Cole Koepke
- LW Trent Frederic - C Matthew Poitras - RW Justin Brazeau
Defense:
- Mason Lohrei - Charlie McAvoy
- Hampus Lindholm - Brandon Carlo
- Nikita Zadorov - Andrew Peeke
Goalies:
- Jeremy Swayman
- Joonas Korpisalo
Powerplay Unit:
- Pavel Zacha, Elias Lindholm, Brad Marchand, David Pastrnak, Charlie McAvoy
- Justin Brazeau, Charlie Coyle, Morgan Geekie, Mason Lohrei, Hampus Lindholm
Penalty Kill:
- Charlie Coyle, John Beecher, Hampus Lindholm, Brandon Carlo
- Elias Lindholm, Pavel Zacha, Nikita Zadorov, Charlie McAvoy
Looking at the Boston Bruins season so far and upcoming games
Heading into Thursday night's game against the Carolina Hurricanes, the Boston Bruins are sitting at the bottom of the Atlantic Division with a 4-5-1 record. Alongside them with the same record and nine points, we have the Montreal Canadiens, Detroit Red Wings and the Buffalo Sabres.
However, the Bruins could jump up to third with a win and two points tonight, which would tie them with the Toronto Maple Leafs in third place depending on whether Toronto wins tonight.
As previously mentioned, the Bruins have struggled to find consistency this season. After losing their season opener against the Panthers, they bounced back with two wins before losing a rematch to the Panthers at home, bringing their record to 2-2-0.
After bouncing back with a win over the Colorado Avalanche on Oct. 16 to cross the .500 mark, the Bruins have gone 1–4 in their last five.
Following a loss to the Flyers on Tuesday, the team will look to get back in the win column tonight when they face the Hurricanes. The game will mark the start of a two-game road stretch for Boston who will play the Flyers on Saturday before hosting the Kraken on Sunday in the second leg of a back-to-back.
