The Boston Bruins (20-17-4) are back on the ice on Sunday night for a matchup with the New York Islanders (14-18-7) at TD Garden.
The Bruins are coming off a 6-4 loss to their bitter rivals the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday night, while the Islanders last played on Thursday, also losing to the Maple Leafs.
Boston has now lost three consecutive games after a tremendous start to Joe Sacco's tenure behind the bench.
The Bruins remain in third position in the Atlantic division with 44 points, although the Tampa Bay Lightning are right behind them with 42 points and five games in hand. On the other side, the Islanders are struggling, sitting in a tie for last place in the Metropolitan division with 35 points, five points out of a playoff spot.
The only notable injury absence for Boston is defenseman Hampus Lindholm who is on IR with a lower-body injury. Conor Ryan of Boston.com said Lindholm has been making progress, but isn't quite ready to start skating.
