Tuesday night, the Vancouver Canucks will hit the road in search of their first win of the season. Standing in their way will be a Tampa Bay Lightning team who got off to a hot start to the season on Friday when they defeated the Carolina Hurricanes 4-1 on the road.
On the flip side, the Canucks have struggled to start the season, dropping back-to-back losses in overtime while dealing with key injuries to Dakota Joshua, Thatcher Demko, and Tyler Myers.
Joshua is preparing to recover after undergoing surgery for testicular cancer, while Demko is still dealing with an injury sustained in the playoffs last year. In the case of Tyler Myers, after exiting Friday's game against Philly with an injury he is listed as day-to-day.

Looking at the Vancouver Canucks' slow start to the season, and remaining schedule for the rest of the week
After finishing last season with the best record in the Pacific Division, the Vancouver Canucks entered the postseason with high hopes. In the first round, the team eliminated the Nashville Predators in a six-game series, starting their Stanley Cup campaign off on the right foot.
Despite that, in the second round, the Canucks lost a hard-fought seven-game series against the Edmonton Oilers, bringing an end to their championship hopes after an injury to Thatcher Demko.
Now, with Demko still on the sidelines, the team has lost two closely contested games to start the 2024-25 NHL season. On Wednesday, Vancouver went down to the wire with Calgary despite jumping out to a 4-1 lead in the first period, ultimately losing in OT 6-5.
Then, despite hopes for a bounce-back game later in the week, Vancouver wound up dropping another OT loss, this time to the Philadelphia Flyers in Philly's season opener.
Following Tuesday's game against the Lightning, Vancouver will be back in action on Thursday for another road game, when they take on the Florida Panthers. Then, to close out the week, the Canucks will be back in action for a highly-anticipated rematch against the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday.
