
The Carolina Hurricanes are an NHL team based in Raleigh, North Carolina. They compete in the Metropolitan Division of the Eastern Conference and play their home games at Lenovo Center. The franchise was founded in 1971 as the New England Whalers in the WHA. They won the Eastern Division title in their first three seasons and became the first Avco World Trophy champions in 1973.
